On November 26th, UA Editora published the book associated with the Colloquium TransVariations – Music Beyond the Limits of Time and Technology.  This work brings together artistic and scientific reflections from musicians and researchers involved in innovative projects exploring the relationship between music, space, and technology.

Edited by INET-md researcher Alfonso Benetti, Øyvind Brandtsegg (Norwegian University of Science and Technology/NTNU), Trond Engum (Norwegian University of Science and Technology/NTNU) and Francisco Monteiro, the book offers a comprehensive overview of the TransVariations project, bringing together chapters that explore various themes related to sound and space, among which are the works Tre Pezzi for saxophone, by Giacinto Scelsi, analyzed by Ângela da Ponte and Mirian Aneiros, the re-enactment of the composition Phantasie for organ, by Mauricio Kagel, presented by Cláudio de Pina, the artistic research project entitled Defy Gravity, which explores performative elements in the context of the interaction between double bass and voice, developed by INET-md co-author Fausto Lessa Pizzol, the analysis and comparison of innovative approaches to musical notation for saxophone, carried out by Pantelis Lykoudis, the study of the conceptual and technological panorama of the work The fireflies, twinkling among leaves, make the stars wonder, written for guitar and electronics by INET-md researcher Rita Torres, and the exploration of structured improvisation and unconventional musical notation, conducted by INET-md collaborator Sergio Kafejian, making up a collection that presents a rich diversity of perspectives and practices, contributing to an in-depth understanding of the proposed themes..
