The Faculdade de Ciênciais Sociais e Humanas (FCSH) is the largest and most diverse Portuguese higher education and research institution in the Social Sciences and Humanities. It covers Communication and Language Sciences, Artistic and Literary Studies, Philosophy, History and Archaeology, Anthropology, Demography, Geography, Sociology, Political Studies and International Relations, as well as intersections between these disciplines.

FCSH hosts 16 Research Units and branches of inter-university centers, 13 of which are financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The institution pursues teaching and research excellence, both at the national and international levels, with a clear aim towards innovation and interdisciplinarity.
