Adestro Vol. II is the title of the second volume of a project that began with the album Adestro (2022), dedicated exclusively to the Portuguese repertoire for solo piano with the left hand. This new work features works by Sérgio Azevedo, performed on the piano by André Roque Cardoso, a doctoral student at the Instituto de Etnomusicologia – Centro de Estudos em Música e Dança (INET-md (INET-md), at the Universidade de Aveiro (UA).

The album Adestro Vol. II has been released, a continuation of the project started in 2022 with the first volume Adestro, which brought to light the Portuguese repertoire for solo piano with the left hand, performed by André Roque Cardoso. This time, all the works composed are by Sérgio Azevedo and are designed specifically for children and young learners. This album covers various difficulty levels, from pieces for the first years of learning to compositions suitable for the end of the secondary school course, filling an important gap in the Portuguese pedagogical repertoire. This recording is associated with André Roque Cardoso's research in the context of the UA's Doctoral Plan in Music, under the guidance of Helena Marinho.

With the support of INET-md and UA, Adestro Vol. II is not just a pedagogical project. Each composition invites the listener to revisit forgotten memories like little treasures rediscovered in an attic. It's a sensory journey between past and future, exploring music's ability to evoke emotions and teach at the same time.

The album was recorded by André Roque Cardoso on piano at DeCA, with technical support from Gonçalo Santos in recording, mixing and mastering, and Fernando Rocha in piano tuning. Graphic design by Travassos and publishing by RODA Music.

Available on Spotify, this album is the first to focus specifically on creating a Portuguese didactic repertoire for the left hand, inviting listeners to delve into fragments of memory and rediscover the evocative power of music.
