Polytechnic Institute of Porto - School of Education (IPP, ESE)
The Polytechnic Institute of Oporto (IPP) was established in 1985 in order to offer excellence in education. The IPP is the largest Portuguese Polytechnic institution, with the most students, teachers, courses and schools. The outcome is a highly diversified offering of training profiles, contexts, targets, extension activities and geographic implementation – seven schools, in six municipalities of the Oporto district. More than 18.000 students attend the seven Schools which offer Bachelor and Master's Degrees in the Arts, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Management and Music, as well as a PhD programme in Education. Students may attend both graduate and undergraduate programmes and may also enrol in specific courses/curricular units. The IPP has over two dozen research groups at its seven schools as well as the highest number of research units recognized by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. The Institute is the Portuguese Polytechnic institution with the highest position in international rankings. Ongoing projects, both national and international, promote partnerships with private companies, organizations and communities.
