The Music Acoustics Laboratory was recently created to carry out research (Music Acoustics and Sound Studies Research Group) and support education (Post-Graduate Program in Acoustics and Sound Studies) in the field of Music Acoustics.

The laboratory relies on high-quality experimental equipment for mechanical vibration and acoustical analysis, and benefits from the wide range of backgrounds of the team members. Its research activities are centered on the development of analysis techniques to investigate the physical behavior of musical instruments, based on vibrational and acoustic measurements, 3D scanning technology and modal analysis.

The laboratory also provides a set of demonstrative experiments designed to illustrate the physical principles of sound phenomena, and to present students with advanced tools and techniques used in sound and vibration engineering.
