Biography
Ricardo Andrade is a researcher in Ethnomusicology at the Instituto de Etnomusicologia - Centro de Estudos em Música e Dança (INET-MD), in Lisbon. He completed undergraduate studies in Musicology, a master's degree and a PhD in Ethnomusicology at the New University of Lisbon. His research interests concentrate in several domains of popular music in Portugal during the 20th century, particularly pop-rock and the protest song movement. In 2021, he finished his PhD thesis about the "boom of Portuguese rock" phenomenon of the early 1980s. He’s a member of the board of the Associação Lopes-Graça, the board of Associação José Afonso, the executive committee of the Observatório da Canção de Protesto, and a curator of the Centro de Estudos e Documentação José Mário Branco - Música e Liberdade.
