Biography
Graduated in Philosophy and Literature, Agnès Pellerin was a researcher at Université Paris 8 - St Denis. Her research crosses cultural history and aesthetics. In 2020, she defended her thesis in Cinematographic Studies - Représenter le Peuple: la chanson dans le cinema portugais. In this work she studied the polysemy of song sequences in Portuguese cinema as antagonistic representations of the "people", during the dictatorship, during the Carnation Revolution and in contemporary cinema.As a PhD student (2016-2019), she developed teaching activities in the department of Film Studies at Paris 8 University - St Denis. In 2021-2022, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Casa de Velázquez - EHEHI, visiting fellow of the Instituto de Ciências Sociais,where she started a project on the role of music in Portuguese colonial cinema. At INET-md, she is a member of the project "'We must warn everyone': Music and Portuguese exile in France during the Estado Novo regime (1933-1974)" (2022.05129.PTDC).In addition to academic publications, she published in France Le Fado (Chandeigne 2003, rééd. 2016) and was co-author of the book Les Portugais à Paris au fil des siècles et des arrondissements (Chandeigne, 2009).
