Biography

Margarida Moura, Ph.D. in Human Motricity – Dance (Traditional Portuguese Dance) and Master of Education Sciences from the Faculty of Human Motricity at the Technical University of Lisbon. She is an assistant professor with permanent appointment at the Faculty of Human Motricity, Department of Education, Social Sciences, and Humanities at the University of Lisbon. She served as the coordinator of the undergraduate dance program at the Faculty of Human Motricity (FMH) from 2008 to 2018 and co-coordinator of the training module "Dance in School: Dances with Tradition – Portuguese and International" from 2009 to the present, accredited by the CCPFC (Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuous Training), organized by the Center for Performing Arts at FMH, Cruz Quebrada.
She has been a researcher at INET-md since 2003 and an accredited trainer since 1998 in the areas of Physical Motor Expressions, Music, Dramatics, Plastic Arts, and Dance, as well as Specific Teaching Methods for Dance, accredited by CCPFC under registration CCPFC/RFO-08425/99. Margarida Moura is a scientific advisor for doctoral and master's studies in dance. She teaches various courses at FMH-ULisboa, including Social Dance Techniques (Traditional Portuguese and Social Dances) (2000-2021), Dance and Sociocultural Animation (2006-2021), Expression and Communication Practices (2002-2021), Dance Teaching Methodology (2000-2021), Dance and Expressive Practices, Dance and Animation, Dance Techniques II, and Methodology and Teaching of Dance (2021-present).
She developed a model of ethnochoreographic writing and classification of Traditional Portuguese Dance in 2000. She has presented at national and international congresses in the fields of dance and education, dance and animation, dance in the community, and ethnochoreology. Recent publications include articles on traditional Portuguese dances in the fields of Ethnochoreology and Dance Education/Teaching (2015 to the present), as well as entries on traditional Portuguese dances in the Encyclopedia of Music in Portugal in the 20th Century (4 vols.), edited by Salwa EL-Shawan Castelo-Branco (2010). In 2017, she received the Best Paper Award in the Performing Arts category for her article titled "Traditional dances and choreographic composition: sharing and creating together," presented at the 4th International Conference on Intangible Heritage, Sharing Cultures 2017.
