Biography
Born in 1984 in France, he has been living in Portugal since 1999. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Artistic Studies from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Coimbra and a PhD in Theatre Studies from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Lisbon. He developed a postdoctoral project on literary writing in theater and dance at the same university. In the academic field, he has taught at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (ESECS), the School of Theatre and Cinema (ESTC), the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Coimbra, and the Lusophone University of Lisbon and Porto.
From 2011 to 2015, he was the deputy director of the Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente, responsible for its programming and cultural management. Since 2010, he has been the artistic director of the Festival Encontros de Novas Dramaturgias Contemporâneas, which aims to promote contemporary Portuguese dramaturgy. He was an associate artist at the Teatro Viriato (Viseu, Portugal) during the 2021/2022 season. Currently, he is the artistic director of Teatro Oficina (Oficina, Guimarães) for the 2023-24 biennium.
In 2009, he founded Colectivo 84 with John Romão, a creative structure where he develops his artistic work. His recent written and directed plays include the diptych Episódios da Vida Selvagem (A Minha Morte and A Nossa Vida, 2022-23), Festa de 15 Anos (2020), My Favorite Suicide (2019, USA), Hantologia (2019), the diptych Sócrates Tem de Morrer (A Morte de Sócrates and A Vida de John Smith, 2017-2018), A Constituição (2016), and Oslo (2014-15). He has also collaborated as an author and dramaturge with creators and structures such as Patrícia Portela, John Romão, Anne Monfort, Rui Horta, Rimini Protokoll, among others.
Some of his texts are compiled and published in Obra Completa Tomos I (2015) and II (2022) by Húmus editions, and he has been invited to present his written work in various national and international venues.
