Biography
Sílvia Correia (n. 1978) is an actress, teacher and researcher. She completed the Professional Acting Course at A.C.E. in 1998; The Workshop Leader Course in 2001 at the Hope Street Institute in Liverpool, England; graduated from ESMAE on the Theater/Acting course in 2005; completed her master's degree in Psychology at FPCE-University of Porto in 2008 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Literary, Cultural and Interartistic Studies at FLUP, having proposed designing the Basic Theater Course for the Portuguese Education system. Has additional training in Fencing, Latin and contemporary dances and 3rd degree Piano. Throughout her career she has worked with great masters of theater, music and television such as: António Capelo, Fernanda Lapa, Kuniaky Ida, Júlio Castronuovo, Mário Moutinho, João Garcia Miguel, Henrique Oliveira, Victor Pereira, Tiago Simães, José Eduardo Poças Gomes between others. Joined the group of researchers in the area of Education and Societal Challenges at the Transdisciplinary Research Centre «Culture, Space and Memory» (CITCEM) between 2016 and 2023. She founded the company Esbofeteatro (1998) and collaborated as an actress with other theater companies such as Teatro Bruto, Meta Mortem Phase and in the educational service of Teatro Nacional São Carlos - Lisbon. Since 2018, she has collaborated with the Ensemble of the Castelo de Paiva Music Academy and more recently is managed by ARTWAY, developing artistic work based on contemporary music and poetry. Participated in television programs, like the TV series Dentro on RTP in 2016, directed by Henrique Oliveira. Participated in short and medium-length films with Raquel Freire, Tiago Nobre, Paulo Martins and Ricardo Cruz. Since 2015, she has been a regular collaborator at Input Studio, as a voice-over for several international brands such as HP and APPLE, PFIZER, AVON, E-DREAMS, and NETFLIX. Throughout her career she has combined artistic work with teaching. Since 1999, she has guided training activities at APCC, and taught Theater and Dramatic Expression at the European College, Colégio Efanor and Óscar da Silva School of Music, where she served as Pedagogical Director between 2008 and 2010. She was also a teacher of Interpretation, Movement and Area of Integration at Jobra – Education. She designed the WEL- PRODUÇÕES theater courses program, maintaining activity between 2002 and 2009 in the city of Porto, reaching more than 1000 trainees and putting on 16 public shows with the students. As a researcher in the area of Artistic Education, the project she authored stands out: Basic Theater Course - Specialized Artistic Teaching Proposal for the Portuguese Education system, a course approved in Ordinance No. 65/2022, February 1st. Since 2017, she has coordinated and taught at ACE-Escola de Artes the Pilot project and the EAE of Theater where she has a team of 9 professionals and more than 500 active students. In 2022, with the team that accompanied her in the CBT pilot project, she founded the National Association of Teachers and Artists of the Basic Theater Course.
