Biography
Rosa Maria Barros was born in São Tomé e Príncipe and is of Portuguese nationality. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Higher School of Education of Porto, and a professionalising Master’s degree in Music Teaching - Music Theory and Training, from the Piaget Institute of Viseu. Rosa Maria Barros is currently attending the Doctoral Programme in Child Studies, in the specialisation of Artistic Education at the University of Minho, under the supervision of Professor Maria Helena Vieira. In a context of continuous training, she has attended: the Music Pedagogy courses by the Wuytack association (Orff instruments, singing and movement); the Yamaha Music Education System Course in Junior Music Course for children from 4 to 6 years old; and the Conmusica - Institute for Modern Music Education training in Max e Mia Course for children from 0 to 6 years old. Rosa Maria Barros is a professor of Music Education in artistic schools of Music and Dance, where she concurrently holds positions as Pedagogical Director and Coordinator of Disciplinary Groups. She developed several projects on Music in Childhood, signed as creator and producer, and materialised in schools, libraries and kindergartens. Since 2014, Rosa Maria Barros is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Escola Superior de Educação - Politécnico do Porto, where she oversees and co-supervises internships in Music Teaching - Music Training and Ensemble Classes. Her professional experience encompasses the teaching of curricular units such as: Methodology and Didactics of Music Training; Musical Expression; Fundamentals of didactics of Music Training; Musical Initiation in Specialized Music Teaching, In-depth Questions in Music Teaching; and Research Seminar in Supervised Teaching Practice.
