Biography

Marcelo Leite do Nascimento is a Flutist and Teacher, he began his studies in the Banda do Colégio Piamarta in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. He has been an associate professor of the music course at the Federal Institute of Ceará (IFCE) since 2013. Marcelo holds a Master's degree in Music Education from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and a Bachelor's degree in Music from the State University of Ceará (UECE). He coordinated the IFCE music course from 2015 to 2019 and directs the following extension projects at the institution: Transversal Flutes Group “Sons Transversais”, IFCE Choir. He has served as a guest professor at music festivals in Brazil and France: Vale do Salgado Music Festival; Northeast 2016; Ibiapaba Music Festival; I and II IFCE International Music Biennial; Asa Branca Festival (Marseille, FR). He is the curator of the National Choro Festival “Mel, Chorinho & Cachaça” since its creation in 2007. As a flutist, he has performed concerts in countries such as: Italy, Germany, Austria, France and Portugal. He recorded two CDs of Brazilian music entitled: “Marcelo Leite & Carlinhos Crisóstomo Tocam Noel Rosa” (2009) and “Levando o Samba na Flauta” (2013). In 2018 he released the book Sons Transversais – Didactic Arrangements for Transverse Flute Groups – Brazilian Rhythms.
