Biography
Eva Azevedo, born in 1977, began her professional career in Classical Ballet, feeling best identified in Contemporary Dance, the Somatic Movement, African Dance and Afro-Contemporary.
She obtained training and specialization in "Traditional African" Dance and "Afro-Contemporary" dance, in Senegal, Guinea Conakry, Burkina Faso, Benin, France and Spain.
Currently is a doctoral student (PhD) in Dance at the Faculty of Human Motricity at the University of Lisbon and advisor on the Master in Performing Arts at the School of Music and Performing Arts in Porto.
Graduated in Pilates by the ALM Pilates Institute, she is a professor in the Interpretation Degree at ESMAE and in several other dance schools.
Has been a Dance Teacher for the West Coast of Africa since 2003, having created her own teaching method "Farisogo Sira -The Body Path in African Dance".
Supported by GDA (Management of Artists' Rights) and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, her career includes research, training and artistic creation, as a dancer and choreographer since 2005, carried out in Burkina Faso, Benin, Brazil, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
Working, since 2002, as a dance monitor, in various educational, artistic and social projects for children, with emphasis on the Mus-e Project, supported by the Ministry of Education of Portugal and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon).
In 2005, together with the musician Paulo das Cavernas, she founded the group Semente and the project / school Sementinha.
Founding member of the Associação Cultural Popolomondo, established in 2015.
It organizes events and training on African culture, notably highlighting the "24h trip to Africa!"
