Biography
Ana Roseli Paes dos Santos completed a degree in Orchestra Conducting by the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) in 1996. In 2008, she completed a MSc in Education on the theme “Training music professors” at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). In 2014, she completed a PhD in Child Studies – specialisation in Musical Education at the University of Minho, Portugal, under the supervision of Dr. Maria Helena Vieira. The project’s theme was “Instrumental group teaching. A multiple case study in Portugal and Brasil”. She is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Aveiro’s branch of INET-md Institute of Ethnomusicology – Centre of Studies in Music and Dance, Portugal, within the scope of the R&D project SOMA - Sounds and Memories of Aveiro: Constructing a Collaborative Archive of Sound and Memory for the Aveiro Region, coordinated by Dr. Susana Sardo. She was part of the string professors’ group at the Conservatório Dr. Carlos de Campos de Tatuí. Since 2015, she is a member of the faculty at Universidade Federal do Tocantins, as an Assistant professor in the area of music education. The is a researcher at the Research Group in Teaching Musical Instruments at the Universidade Federal da Bahia/UFBA and Coordinator and leader of the Research Office in Music Education, a group of the CNPq directory (dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/6992974470413629) associated to the Universidade Federal do Tocantins. In this office, she supervises and develops research on musical education processes for regular public schools, native instrumental teaching and learning practices, instrumental group teaching, popular and traditional music. She was a scholar of the Research Pro-Rectorate at Pesquisa da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) and also of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes Exterior/BEX). She is currently an evaluator expert of the Graduation programmes at the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP) of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC).
