Biography
Inês Galvão is an anthropologist, graduated from the University of Lisbon. She is interested in the relationship between work and domesticity, and is currently preparing her doctoral dissertation on conjugality, gender politics and kinship in Guinea-Bissau, where she did fieldwork on the phenomenon of forced marriages. In the meantime, she took part of the project Amílcar Cabral, from Political History to Politics of Memory, coordinated by Rui Lopes in the Institute of Contemporary History, and wrote, with Catarina Laranjeiro, about women's participation in the liberation struggle led by the PAIGC. In 2023, she published the book Sisal em carne viva: Poder, ciência e o problema do trabalho numa economia de plantação (Moçambique, c. 1930-1960), resulting from her master's thesis at the Institute of Social Sciences.
She has previously worked at the African Studies Center (ISCTE-IUL), in film production and call-centers. For two years, she was also an informal caregiver. In september 2023, she joined the science management team at INET-md, NOVA FCSH. Additionally, she is a certified trainer, specializing in gender equality.
