Ana Flávia Miguel, an integrated researcher at INET-md, was invited by the Institut für Ethnomusikologie at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG) in Austria to give a lecture on May 7 dedicated to Cesária Évora.

The invitation comes in the context of the research Ana Flávia Miguel has been conducting within projects based at INET-md, with a particular focus on the transnational circulation of Cape Verdean music and its symbolic effects within the Lusophone world and the field of world music. In her presentation in Graz, Ana Flávia Miguel offered a critical reading of the discourses constructed around Cesária Évora, using press and radio archives held at the National Library of France in Paris, which holds the largest collection of documents on the artist.
