Gustavo Afonso, Ana Barros, and Mónica Chambel, all doctoral students at INET-md, represented Portuguese music and artistic research at two European events held in Latvia and Lithuania at the end of November 2024.
On November 26th, the lecture-recital "Deconstructing staged approaches to 20th-century Portuguese music" occurred at the LMT kamerzāle of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (Riga, Latvia). This presentation explored the scenic recreation of 20th-century Portuguese works based on artistic research methodologies developed within ongoing doctoral projects at INET-md. The program included a recital featuring 20th-century Portuguese music, showcasing piano repertoire by Victor Macedo Pinto, three fado songs, and a song by Chico Buarque.
The doctoral students then participated in the IMPACT 2024 Forum (IMProvisation and Creativity In and Through Performing Arts), held from November 27 to 30 at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius. This event brought together artists and researchers worldwide to discuss creativity in the performing arts.
