In the extraordinary session of the Scientific Council of INET-md which took place on 26 May, the Ethics Committee of INET-md was created, under the terms of point f of number 1 of article 7 of our Statutes. Under the proposal of the Board of Directors, the appointment of colleagues Daniel Tércio, Graça Mota, Maria do Rosário Pestana and Paulo Vaz de Carvalho to this commission was unanimously ratified.

As defined in our Statutes, the Ethics Committee is made up of three to five active, retired or retired researchers with recognised research careers, who do not belong to any of the other bodies of INET-md. The Ethics Committee is responsible for issuing its opinion on consultations submitted by the Board or by the acting President, on research projects submitted to national and international agencies, on conflicts of interest among researchers, or between researchers and institutions, organisms, groups or persons external to the Institute, identifying key ethical issues related to the Institute's research fields, namely copyrights and archives organization, as well as proposing to the Board rules and models for ethical research commitments, namely related to informed consent and data use.
