The project aims to contribute to the preservation of this instrument, study its characteristics and sonic dimension, and, from an ethnographic perspective, explore its active contexts within the oral tradition in Angola. Additionally, it seeks to promote the Ocihumba and foster a deeper understanding of its historical and musical significance through initiatives that encourage new creative explorations of the instrument.

This project focuses on creating artistic responses that involve audience participation as performers in contemporary classical music. The objectives include the creation of memorabilia related to audience participation in the musical work; the identification of ideas, key concepts, and types of audience participation in the current paradigm of contemporary classical music (with a special emphasis on Portugal); the development of strategies for integrating the audience into the musical composition; and the creation of works based on these strategies.

The event offers a unique opportunity for academics, musicians, and the general public to explore the advancements of these research projects and interact directly with the researchers.
