The EUROVISIONS conference contributes to the strengthening of the Eurovision studies field by bringing together fans, professionals and researchers of one of the world's biggest music events – the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). This fourth edition of the EUROVISIONS conference will continue to be a platform for the sharing and discussion of academic and non-academic thinking about the ESC. It follows from our previous face-to-face editions in Lisbon (17 February and 7 - 9 May 2018), Tel Aviv (14 - 15 May 2019), and an online edition last year (26, 28, 30 May 2020). This year, under the topic The Power of Change II: A History and Histories of Transformation, the EUROVISIONS Conference team will continue to bring together the Eurovision community. Considering the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we continue in an online format, organising a series of online events during the weekend of the 29th and 30th of May 2021. Save the date and prepare to join us in a reflection about the changes the ESC has endured throughout its history. Since last year, the world is facing the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation has necessarily impacted the ESC, its organisation and how those involved can participate and experience it. However, there is a wide number of diversified and interesting aspects about the ESC that have significantly changed in its almost seven decades of existence: from the initial concept, to the format of the songs (both music and lyrics), the stage performance, the TV broadcast and more recently the city events. Exploring a long-term view enables us to understand the ESC today, as a resilient multifaceted global music event mobilising millions of people and revenue. We expect the EUROVISIONS conference to be a useful platform to have those discussions between academics, fans, and a wide range of professionals engaged in the ESC. Get ready to be part of EUROVISIONS! Get in touch with us via social media, if you want to offer suggestions or just to show your support. We plan to share with you pre-recorded material and also will invite you to participate in live discussions.
