Roundtable | Recorded traditional music: talking to independent publishers
28.01.2020 | 16:00 | online
Five small national traditional music publishers will participate in this roundtable: José Moças (owner of Tradisom publishing house and donor of shellac 78rpm discs of Portuguese music to UA), Mário Correia (Sons da Terra), Emiliano Toste (Açor), Sara Vidal (Sons Vadios) and Vasco Ribeiro Casais (Hepta Trad, Repasseado). The moderator will be Pedro Nunes (INET-md | NOVA FCSH). The roundtable will focus on the stories, practices and values of editing and distribution, and the challenges that these publishers face in a context of rapid transformation of the forms of editing and distribution of music.
The event is held within the scope of the activities of the research project "EcoMusic - Sustainable practices: a study of the pos-folklorism in Portugal in the 21st century", between August 2018 and August 2021, a project co-financed by the European Union, through the Regional Operational Program of Lisbon, the Operational Program Competitiveness and Internationalization, in its FEDER component, and by national funds, through the FCT. The project "EcoMusic - Sustainable practices: a study of the pos-folklorism in Portugal in the 21st century" results from a partnership between the UA, ISCTE, IPP and CRIA (NOVA FCSH).
