Abstract

The workshop aims to develop listening and writing skills about music that can be used in the media, both in specialized publications and in the general press. The work sessions will have a practical approach, mainly focused on criticism, but including also other genres linked to music journalism. A selection of music criticism texts published in Portuguese and foreign media will be analyzed and discussed and some practical exercises (oral and written) will be proposed to the participants. These include listening to musical examples and comparisons of interpretations and writing a CD review and a concert review.
