Dançar para a República

This book comprises a series of articles that put dance in the convergence of several domains: from artistic nudity towards the female issue, from the problems of national identity towards modernists alignments, from the lure of exoticism to the moralists fears in the late 19th and early 20th century. It reflects on dance, not just as an artistic practice, but also as a bodily experience in Portugal and as a constructive project at the time of the Republic.
