The YAMAwards aim to identify and support productions from all over the world that inspire and engage young people and distinguish the creativity and innovation of musical productions for audiences in this age group. The prizes are awarded by Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), an organization that stands out for arguing that access to music and culture are fundamental rights for all children and young people.

Ornitópera is a music theater show designed for "kids and grown-ups". "One day, all the birds of the world gathered in a great assembly to deal with the serious problems they were all facing. We don't know why humans weren't invited, perhaps because they caused most of them."

This is a story about birds, which is also a poem or a metaphor about what is deepest about human beings. There are no words at the beginning, no words in the middle, and even less at the end. In Ornithoptera he communicates through music. The language of birds.

The show Ornitópera is a co-production of CMT with Casa das Artes de Vila Nova de Famalicão and Teatro Aveirense and is one of the results of CMT's partnership with UAveiro which, since 1999, has allowed an effective articulation between academic research, artistic production, technological creation, community involvement and the dissemination of the importance of musical experience and art in general in social and human development.

Projects and creations such as Bach2Cage, Pianoscope or Porcelain and Crystal Gamelan are some examples of the results of this partnership. Several of CMT's founding members and collaborators are linked to two of the country's most important research centers (CESEM and INET-md), the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New Faculty of Lisbon (NOVA-FCSH) and UAveiro, contributing to relevant university outreach work and making art available to everyone.
