Biography
Erik Pronk is a professor of classical guitar at the Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB), Brazil. He has a master degree in music at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, Netherlands and bachelor of music degree at UFPB. Regarding his artistic career, he participated as musician and arranger in several musical groups, working with different plucked string instruments, such as the viola caipira, cavaquinho and Bolivian ronroco. He is currently a doctoral researcher at the University of Aveiro, where he develops a study on the viola caipira, under the guidance of Paulo Vaz de Carvalho.

Abstract
The doctoral research consists of the interpretative study of the works contained in the album “Do Romance ao Galope Nordestino” by Quinteto Armorial, from 1974. In this sense, the research is being conducted by the researcher's own artistic practice, and aims to develop a performance with the viola Brazilian solo using the live looping modality.
