Biography

Born in João Pessoa, capital of the State of Paraíba, Brazil, he had his first contacts with music at the age of 9. Initially, he attended the violin and music theory course guided by Elias Carneiro (CEFET-PB), in addition to the classical guitar extension course at the Department of Music at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), under the guidance of Jairo Pessoa. In the following years, he performed several works related to Brazilian works for guitar. He holds a Bachelor's Degree (2012) and a Bachelor's Degree in Music (2017) from UFPB under the guidance of Jorge Castor, Luiz Ricardo Queiroz and Gilson Antunes, where he received “Láurea Acadêmica” for his performance. Specialist in Teaching in Higher Education by FACTED (2013). Master in Music from the University of Aveiro - Portugal, being supervised by Pedro Rodrigues (2014). He performed as a concert performer in several Brazilian states, including Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Ceará, Rondônia, Maranhão, Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In 2013 and 2014 he held a series of Concerts at Music Conservatories in Portugal. As a soloist, he performed with the Youth Orchestra of the Federal University of Paraíba, João Pessoa Chamber Orchestra and the old music group Camena. With his research and interpretation of Brazilian works for guitar, in 2008 he received the “Pixinguinha” award offered by FUNARTE as the best instrumental work in his State. He was awarded 1st place in the II guitarist contest in the City of Campina Grande (Brazil) and finalist in the FENAVIPI Guitarist Interpretation Competition (2012), held in the State of Piauí (Brazil). He participated in complementary training in several music festivals, including Vital Medeiros, FEMUSC, FENAVIPI, Campos do Jordão Festival, Semana da Musica (RN), among others. He participated in the classes of several guitarists, where he can highlight Carlos Perez, Paulo Martelli, Marco Pereira, Ana Vidovic, Thomas Patterson, Michael Lewin, Jorge Caballero and Dejan Ivanovic. From 2012 to 2013 he was a professor at Conservatório David de Souza, in Figueira da Foz (Portugal). Since 2013 he is an associate professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba (IFPB), also acting as Coordinator of the Technical Course in Musical Instrument from 2014 to 2018. In addition to teaching, he carries out Research, Extension and Innovation work in the area of Music, with publications in the areas of Performance, Music Education, Music Technologies and Historical Musicology, and several works in the artistic scope. Currently, in the artistic field, in addition to solo performances, he is constantly participating in Iamaká (UFPB-IFB-EMAN), Duo Danado (with violinist Ana Carolina Petrus), and groups formed with diverse artists in Brazilian cities and abroad . In the academic field, he is a doctoral student in Music at the University of Aveiro, also participating in the group of researchers linked to INET-md/UA.
