Biography
Musicologist, composer and cultural manager, Edward Ayres de Abreu studied at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Composition, Licentiate), Universidade NOVA (Musical Sciences, Master and PhD) and AESE Business School (Executive MBA). Throughout his academic career, he was awarded a scholarship by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), the Imprensa Nacional — Casa da Moeda (INCM) and the AESE Business School. As a musicologist, he was awarded the 2nd Prize of the Otto Mayer-Serra Competition (2017) of the University of California, Riverside, and the Joaquim de Vasconcelos Prize (2019) of the Portuguese Society for Research in Music (SPIM). He founded and directed the MPMP Património Musical Vivo, a platform distinguished with the Sequeira Costa Music Award (2018). Within the scope of MPMP he has conceived and coordinated several editorial and music programming projects. He is, since 2021, a member of the Board of the Portuguese Society for Research in Music (SPIM).
