Biography
Maria do Rosário da Silva Santana studied Music Composition at Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo do Porto. In 1998 obtained the degree of Docteur at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) defending a dissertation entitled - “Elliott Carter: le rapport avec la musique européenne dans les domaines du rythme et du temps”. Since 1999, acts as the Coordinator Professor in the School of Education at the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, teaching courses of Technological Specialisation in Technical Gerontology or Monitoring of Children and Youth, in Bachelor of Elementary Education and Socio-cultural Animation and Masters courses in Preschool Education and the 1st cycle of Basic Education. She belongs to the Research Unit INET-md, and she is a co-author of the Book (semi)- BREVES. Notas sobre música do século XX, published by the University of Aveiro, and author of his doctoral thesis Elliott Carter: le rapport avec la musique européenne dans les domains du rythme et du temps, published by Presses Universitaires du Septentrion, Villeneuve D'Ascq, France. His research also translates in the publication of several articles on contemporary music, musical analysis, and on the arts in education. Its production also includes the production of various materials and audio-visual nature of radio to support lecionação and dissemination of contemporary music.
