Biography
Helena Maria da Silva Santana studied Music Composition at Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto. In 1998 obtained the degree of Docteur at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) defending a dissertation entitled - “L’Orchestration chez Iannis Xenakis : L’espace et le rythme fonction du timbre”. Since 2000, acts as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Art, University of Aveiro lecturing various subjects in the Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, Master of Music Education and the Doctoral Program in Music. She belongs to the unit Research INET-md, performing diverse research on contemporary music, including contemporary Portuguese music. In this sense, in addition to several articles published as a result of research conducted for various magazines and proceedings of conferences, both national and international, is co-author of (semi)- BREVES. Notas sobre música do século XX, published by the University of Aveiro, and author of his doctoral thesis L’Orchestration chez Iannis Xenakis : L’espace et le rythme fonction du Timbre, published by Presses Universitaires du Septentrion, Villeneuve D'Ascq, France and the book (In)EXISTÊNCIAS do SOM, also published by the University of Aveiro.
