Education, and, consequently, music education, appear to be at a neonatal stage, in Britain, when it comes to addressing climate change and sustainability issues. Global metrics suggest that this situation appears to be as challenging, if not worse, around the world.
In this presentation, I will be offering a general taxonomic map of issues that are central to a future sustainable music educational praxes. This is the result of a comprehensive review of key literatures in the overarching field.
Additionally, we will be offering information about a novel UCL initiative, the "Crafting Sustainabilities Collective", a creative synergies group connected by the common goal to co-design new interventions with groups and communities that harness the possibilities of creative making involving technology in support of sustainability.
