Vania Camacho presented a paper titled "Findings about Piano Teaching in the Speeches of Teachers from Portugal," which is based on her postdoctoral research conducted at the University of Aveiro, in partnership with INET-md and the Federal University of Paraíba through the GPP – Pianistic Research Group – interpretative practices, pedagogical practices, and history. The main objective of this work was to report on the research process and the initial results obtained from interviews with piano teachers working in higher education in Portugal. Specifically, 17 piano teachers currently working or have previously worked at the Universities of Aveiro, Minho, and Évora, as well as at the Polytechnic Institutes of Porto, Castelo Branco, and Lisbon, were selected.

The ultimate goal of this research process is to build a database that supports intellectual production in music historiography and enables the continuation of related studies. At this stage, the research report aims to infer and highlight the main findings from the interviews, the behaviors adopted by the teachers in the fields of pedagogical and performance practices, their evolution over time, the challenges they face, and the institutional particularities of the Portuguese system and culture. Special emphasis is given to those interviewed who resonate with the central issues experienced by Brazilian teachers or those who stand out for their contradictions.
