On the 16th of May, NOVA FCSH and Associação José Afonso (AJA) signed a collaboration agreement aimed at collecting, digitizing and preserving documentation related to the life and musical activity of José Afonso, for which the Instituto de Etnomusicologia - Centro de Estudos em Música e Dança (INET-md) will be responsible. This collaboration has as its main purpose the study and the divulgation of the work and civic example of José Afonso, a pivotal figure in the reconfiguration of the universe of popular music in Portugal during the second half of the XXth century. This ceremony was attended by Francisco Fanhais, president of the Associação José Afonso, Dr. Francisco Caramelo, director of NOVA FCSH and Dr. Salwa El-Shawan Castelo-Branco, president of INET-md.
