Abstract
The “Tangentes” project, promoted by the Borealis Ensemble, explores the creation of three instruments - the recorder, the pianoforte, and the Portuguese guitar - which, having belonged to totally different geographical and historical contexts, have not developed repertoires or practices in common. The use of these instruments is usually limited to period repertoires or, in the case of the Portuguese guitar, to specific performance contexts (usually traditional music), and there is a notable absence of contemporary classical repertoire, particularly about the pianoforte or the Portuguese guitar. The “Tangentes” project aims to explore new composing methods for, playing and listening to these instruments.
