The relationship between the arts, creative processes, inclusion and well-being seems relevant in the context of contemporary societies and the different types of appropriation that contribute, in different ways, to reconfiguring identities, improving individual and collective life paths, reversing some processes of exclusion by encouraging processes of interpersonal empowerment and building social and cultural capital.
The artistic and social project “Recriar-se”, created in 2014 and developed at Cáritas Diocesana de Setúbal, is a unique empowerment project involving music, photography and the visual arts in which, through collaborative processes, the aim is to rebuild life paths by creating conditions for the empowerment and inclusion of the participants, men and women in homeless situations.
This research/evaluation focuses on the relationship between art forms, social inclusion and well-being, with “Recriar-se” as its empirical object and its objectives: (a) to understand how their participation in an artistic project is perceived and appropriated by the subjects; (b) to identify artistic strategies and practices that contribute to the processes of empowerment, social inclusion and well-being of the actors and (c) to evaluate the work carried out in its artistic, psychosocial intervention and organizational dimensions; (d) to produce and disseminate knowledge about a reality that has been little studied in the national and international context.
