International Conference | Rádio Con:vida

The University of Aveiro, the Instituto de Etnomusicologia – Centro de Estudos Música e Dança (INET-md) and the State University of Paraná (UNESPAR) are pleased to host the international conference Rádio Con:vida to be held in the city of Aveiro, Portugal. With the support of the Fábrica Centro de Ciência Viva de Aveiro, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Foundation for Science and Technology, the Oliveira do Bairro Museum Network, the Câmara Municipal de Oliveira do Bairro and Radiolândia, the conference - which also includes an exhibition - aims to bring researchers and protagonists involved in different radio experiences into dialogue. The radio is understood here as a space for archiving, sharing, transits, sociability and affection. As a mediator in communication, she acquires multiple meanings for the individuals who live with her, whether they are producers, technicians, musicians, archivists, museologists, researchers and, above all, listeners. In the case of the Rádio Con:vida event, all actions, whether expository or debate, are focused on the importance of radio as an archive, of music in the radio archive and, in particular, for its role in the global radio itineraries in Portuguese language. Thus, it is expected that the concept of archives associated with the radio will produce different discussion panels, namely: the biographical archive (exposing life stories constructed through the individual relationship with the radio); the colonial archive (marked by the presence of a post-colonial radio cartography in Portuguese); the saudade archive (starring the immense array of Portuguese migrant communities around the world), the aesthetic archive (if we understand radio as a mediator in accessing different types of music and knowledge about them), the technological archive (as a magical place sophistication in the process of transforming from far to near) and the radio files. These panels of the exhibition will be represented in the debate space with discussion tables submitted to the same themes. For that, we will count with the presence of several guests coming mainly from radios associated with the Portuguese language, authors of iconic or historical programs, and also researchers who propose to present original communications on the same topics. In addition, work groups associated with each of these groups are expected to be held.
