Post-ip, a group composed of postgraduate Music students from the Institute of Ethnomusicology – Centre for Studies in Music and Dance (INET-md), welcomes Aires Pinheiro for a lecture-recital dedicated to the life and work of José Duarte Costa (1921–2004). A key figure in the development of guitar practice in Portugal, Costa left a legacy that will be revisited through musical performance and an analysis of his artistic journey. The event will occur on April 2 at around 4h pm in the CCCI Auditorium (DeCA.UA). Admission is free and open to the community.

Thanks to José Duarte Costa (1921-2004) 's work, the classical guitar gained new status in Portuguese classical music. Performer, composer, pedagogue, and entrepreneur, he left a vast legacy, which Aires Pinheiro revisits in a recital conference dedicated to his work. The event offers a journey through the guitarist's repertoire, exploring the different technical approaches that marked his career.
 
 
About Aires Pinheiro
Born in Vila do Conde, Aires Pinheiro began his musical journey at the Vasco da Gama de Fornelo Music School. He completed the Advanced Guitar Course with top marks (20/20) at the S. Pio X Music Academy, now the Conservatory of Music, Theatre, and Dance of Vila do Conde, where he currently teaches and serves as Pedagogical Director.
He holds a degree in Guitar from ESMAE – the Porto School of Music and Performing Arts – and a Master’s in Music Teaching from the University of Aveiro.
As part of his PhD research in Music, he has developed an intense artistic career, focusing on promoting the guitar works of Portuguese guitarist and composer José Duarte Costa.
