12-03-2025 | 5 PM - 7 PM | NOVA FCSH, Avenida de Berna | Building C | Amphitheatre C1 | Free Entry

We invite everyone to watch the documentary and participate in the discussion about this work, the result of Sofia Vieira Lopes' doctoral research at this faculty, in close collaboration with RTP director Miguel Pimenta. Narrated by Filomena Cautela, the documentary film was commissioned by RTP Inovação to mark the 60th anniversary of Festival da Canção and premiered as part of RTP's 67th anniversary celebrations (2024).

Days after the final of the 59th edition of the Festival – Portugal’s longest-running song contest – the documentary Festival da Canção – 60 anos (53 min.) will be presented to the FCSH community. Created entirely from archival footage, it explores how Festival da Canção goes beyond a mere musical competition, serving as a reflection of Portugal’s history over the past six decades.

To what extent is Festival da Canção part of a collective memory? What does it reveal about national identity? How has it reinvented itself over time? A discussion open to all,
even to those who don’t follow it closely. Join us!
