Events | Falando sobre: Pedagogia do Piano em Portugal
In a roundtable format, LAbEAMUS - Laboratory for the Teaching and Learning of Musics at the Universidade de Aveiro (UA), part of INET-md, hosts the event Falando sobre: Pedagogia do Piano em Portugal. The event will take place on February 12th, 2025, at 2:30 pm, in the Auditorium of the Departamento de Comunicação e Arte da Universidade de Aveiro (DeCA).
This special edition focuses on the theme explored during the postdoctoral fellowship of researcher Vania Camacho (Universidade Federal da Paraíba – Brasil) at INET-md, under the supervision of researcher Alfonso Benetti. The research involved collecting and analyzing oral and written documents related to piano education in higher education in Portugal, aiming to identify contexts, trends, and contemporary practices associated with the pedagogy of the instrument within the geographical scope of the study.
The work highlights findings derived from interviews conducted with selected professors from a group of 23 educators who have worked or currently work at institutions such as the Universities of Aveiro, Braga, Évora, and the Polytechnic Institutes of Porto, Castelo Branco, and Lisbon. The data analysis facilitated the establishment of numerous interinstitutional and intercontinental dialogues on piano education in higher education institutions, providing a robust structural framework for procedures, ideologies, and practices associated with the Portuguese context.
To engage in dialogue with Vania Camacho, the roundtable will feature INET-md researchers Fausto Neves, Alfonso Benetti, Francisco Monteiro, Inês Lamela, and Paulo Oliveira (professor at UA).
