Sofia Leandro and Bruno Santos | Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei
The musical duo comprised of violinist Sofia Leandro and percussionist Bruno Santos will present pieces from their newly released CD. The CD includes compositions by Harry Crowl and works created for the "Escuta Aqui!" Festival. Among the compositions is "Concerto No. 4," a piece inspired by Marielle Franco and dedicated to the duo. This composition, written by Crowl in 2019, is in the form of a Stations of the Cross and carries a powerful symbolic meaning, commemorating the assassination of the councilwoman in 2018. Since then, the duo has premiered numerous works by established composers and emerging talents from the "Escuta Aqui!" Festival.
Duo Sofia Leandro and Bruno Santos | The music duo Sofia Leandro and Bruno Santos was formed in 2016 to create original music and arrangements for violin and percussion ensembles. Both members currently serve as professors in the Departamento de Música at the Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei. Since 2020, the duo has been organizing the "Escuta Aqui!" Festival, where they have premiered works by established composers and young talents in training who were selected to participate in the event. The duo has played a significant role in expanding the repertoire for violin and percussion, especially through collaborations with Brazilian composers.
