Rita Torres and Jaime Reis, a researcher and PhD student at the Institute of Ethnomusicology - Centre for Studies in Music and Dance (INET-md), are leading the organization of the NoiseFloor Conference, which will take place between May 27 and 29, 2024, at the Lisbon School of Music. NoiseFloor is an annual conference dedicated to contemporary and electronic music, traditionally hosted by Staffordshire University in the UK since 2010. This year, the event will be held in Portugal for the first time.

The highlight of the event will be a lecture by Ludger Brümmer, Professor of Composition for Digital Media at the Trossingen School of Music and Director of Research and Music Production at the HertzLab of the ZKM | Karlsruhe Center for Art and Media, both located in Germany. Brümmer is an international reference in digital music and his participation promises to enrich the conference program further.

Ludger Brümmer | Currently Professor of Composition with Digital Media at the State University for Music Trossingen and directs the music program of the HertzLab at the ZKM | Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe. He studied composition at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, Germany, and was a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford University, USA, from 1991 to 1993. In 2000 he was a Research Fellow at Kingston University London, and in 2002 Professor of Composition at the Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) in Belfast, UK. Since 2003, he has been the Director of the Institute for Music and Acoustics, now the HertzLab, at the ZKM and a Visiting Professor at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe. In 2009 he was appointed to the Academy of the Arts in Berlin and in 2017 he became a Professor at the State University for Music Trossingen.
