On May 16th, the Departamento de Comunicação e Arte (DeCA) at the Universidade de Aveiro (UA) will host a practical workshop on audio recording and editing. The event is organized by the Instituto de Etnomusicologia - Centro de Estudos em Música e Dança (INET-md) and will be given by Joaquim Branco, a lecturer at the University of Aveiro and the Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho. Registration is required.

The workshop “Audio recording and editing: a practical approach” takes place on May 16 at DeCA. Organized by INET-md, the event takes place between 3 pm and 5 pm in the Department's room 20.2.20.
This audio training covers the following main topics: recording, configurations for different purposes, editing, and storage. It seeks to answer questions of an eminently practical nature, providing training for activities such as recording live music, interviews, landscapes, and sound environments, among others. The approach will be theoretical and practical, focusing on the equipment available at the research unit.

With a maximum capacity of 15 participants, priority will be given to INET-md members and PhD students in Music for selection purposes.

Joaquim Branco | Ear Training Professor at the Universidade de Aveiro and the Professional School of Music in Espinho. Drawing from the premises of improvised music, he has created and participated in numerous events, encompassing formats such as classes, performances, and workshops. He is a developer of educational software within the scope of Music Education, using the Max/MSP/Jitter platform. Highly critical of conventional practices in music education, specifically in the discipline of Ear Training, he has conducted training in this field in schools, training centers, and artistic institutions, advocating and encouraging a new approach to the discipline. In the realm of audio technology, he has been involved in various CD creation projects, overseeing tasks such as recording, production, editing, mixing, and mastering.
