LA:b Workshop | A phenomenological approach to musicians body self-awareness
"A phenomenological approach to musicians' body self-awareness" is the name of the workshop organized by LAbEAMUS at the University of Aveiro/Centre for Music and Dance Studies (INET-md). The workshop aims to explore the relationship between tension development and pain during the execution of movements performed. At the same time, musicians play instruments, an issue addressed through a phenomenological approach that will involve some volunteers.
The workshop will be led by Annamaria Minafra, from the G.Nicolini Conservatory of Music.
About Annamaria Minafra
Annamaria Minafra has a degree in viola d'arco from the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Turin. Verdi" in Turin and has a degree in Educational Sciences with the thesis "The collective practice of stringed instruments, intersubjectivity, and motivation". She has a PhD from the UCL-Institute of Education, London (UK) with the thesis "Exploring kinaesthetic and body self-awareness in professional musicians".
Her research interest, based on empirical phenomenology applied to music pedagogy, examines the mind-body relationship in musical performance, both with adult professionals and beginners. She has presented her research work at various international conferences and has published some of her research in Italian (Quaderni della SIEM) and English (ACM; Springer).
She currently teaches music pedagogy at the Conservatory "G. Cantelli" Conservatory in Novara and more recently at the Conservatories of Potenza and Bari.
