The aim of this symposium is to show some preliminary results of the Sounds of Tourism research project and also present current lines of research. Launched in October 2018 and funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), Sounds of Tourism explores the impact of tourism on the soundscapes of Lisbon's historic city centre, with a special focus on how tourist flows are changing the way we feel and inhabit the city. Three years after its beginning, and with a global pandemic in the middle that has particularly affected the city's tourist dynamics, it is time to take stock. This seminar brings together members of the research team for a series of roundtable presentations that aim to create a collective space for critical reflection based on the work carried out under this project.
