Roundtable | Body and Ritual

Rituals generate forces that are born in the body and rebound upon it and other bodies and other things. This phenomenon can provide an immersion in the depths that unite nature with culture. How do affects circulate, how are they intensified, and how do they derive socially? The roundtable aims to contribute to an anthropological theory of the emotional and healing power of music and dance in ritual context. The workshop will explore symbolic and relational body movement through the intensification of the ritualistic practice of action and the presence of the body in space and time.
