INET-md researchers Alfonso Benetti and Francisco Monteiro are traveling to Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway for the third stage of the TransVariations - Music beyond the limits of time and technology project.

From the second to the fifth of April 2024, the researchers will participate in an Artech Residency, which includes testing and evaluating technological tools in conjunction with artistic outputs and recording sessions using the previously evaluated materials.

The culmination of the four days will be a workshop performance. This stage will be crucial for consolidating the results obtained in the previous phases and for the continued development of technology in association with artistic creation. Furthermore, the opportunity to take the elements worked on in the studio into the live performance environment is significant for the progress of TransVariations.

The first stage of the project took place at Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet (NTNU) in April 2023. The second stage took place at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) and the University of Aveiro (UA) in November 2023. The fourth and final stage of the project will take place at the University of Aveiro (UA) in the second half of 2024.

About the project
The main goal of the TransVariations project is to problematize the relationship between interpretation and artistic creation in the context of Western concert music, using innovative technological resources. Funded by the EEA Grants Bilateral Relations Fund, it proposes to promote a paradigm shift in the artistic approach by updating ideas and resources according to the reconfiguration of the past. The team is made up of Alfonso Benetti (project coordinator INET-md/UA), Francisco Monteiro (INET-md/IPP), Øyvind Brandtsegg (NTNU) and Trond Engum (NTNU).
