Artigo | Skopeofonia in the field: ways of worldmaking through music in a Cape Verdean neighbourhood in Lisbon
Ana Flávia Miguel, investigadora integrada do INET-md, acaba de publicar na revista Ethnomusicology Forum o artigo intitulado "Skopeofonia in the field: ways of worldmaking through music in a Cape Verdean neighbourhood in Lisbon". O presente artigo analisa como após a independência de Cabo Verde em 1975, o final da década de 1970 e os anos 1980 foram marcados pela chegada de vários migrantes ao bairro da Cova da Moura (Kova M), em Lisboa. Tendo em conta a intensa vida musical da comunidade, uma equipa multidisciplinar realizou, entre 2013 e 2015, o projeto do INET-md, Skopeofonia, centrado em investigação etnomusicológica. O projeto integrou jovens residentes do bairro como investigadores ativos, desenvolvendo uma metodologia participativa aplicada ao contexto português. Através de práticas de investigação partilhadas, a equipa dedicou-se à identificação e documentação da música e dos locais onde ela ocorre no bairro.

Following the independence of Cape Verde in 1975, the late 1970s and 1980s were marked by the arrival of several people to the neighbourhood of Cova da Moura (Kova M), in Lisbon, Portugal. Considering the intense musical life of the neighbourhood, a multidisciplinary team focusing on ethnomusicological research conducted the Skopeofonia project in Kova M from 2013 to 2015. The Skopeofonia project integrated young Kova M residents as active researchers to develop a methodology and investigated its applicability in the Portuguese context. Using shared research practices, the research team dedicated part of its research to identifying and documenting the music and locations at which music occurs in the neighbourhood. This article describes the research practices of the Skopeofonia project, the methods of collectively creating new knowledge, and the way that these processes allowed the acknowledgement of ethnomusicology’s potential for social transformation.
