Biography
Rita Rato start her studies in Dance at the Lisbon National Dance School Conservatory for seven years. She worked as a professional dancer in Contemporary Dance companies and also in Musical Theatre companies. Assistant Professor since 2005 at Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (FMH) in the University of Lisbon (UL), she is teaching Dance Technique (Modern, Contemporary and Classical Dance), Tap Dance, Dance Laboratory and Somatic Techniques in the Department of Education, Social Sciences and Humanities. She was an invited teacher in Escola Superior de Educação de Torres Novas from 2000 to 2003 and in two graduation courses in 2007 and 2008 at FMH- UL. Member of the Study Centre of Performing Arts (CEAP) and co-choreographer and co-producer of Mostra de Dança FMH since 2007. She is currently a doctoral student in the PhD program in Human Movement - Dance Branch at the FMH-UL. The study seeks to understand the dynamic construction of the body image by the dance student, regarding the experience, perception and appreciation of his own movement.
