Biography
PhD in Music - Composition, from the University of Aveiro, under the thesis “Musicality of the spoken Portuguese language: in the search for a musical language”. Graduated in Music Teaching - specific area of composition, by the University of Aveiro. Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication and Art at the University of Aveiro since 2010. Professor at the Music Conservatory of Vila do Conde since 2010 and at the Music Academy of São João da Madeira, in the disciplines of Aural Training and Music Theory, Analysis and Techniques of Composition and History and Culture of the Arts. Integrated researcher at INET-MD, Group of Creation, Performance and Artistic Research. He was a teacher at the Bachelor in Music at the Escola Superior de Educação de Bragança (2013-14), executive coordinator and teacher of the Bachelor in Music at ISEIT, at the Instituto Piaget Mirandela (2004 and 2008), teacher at the Escola Profissional de Arte de Mirandela - Esproarte ( 1997-2010), at the Conservatory of Music of Coimbra (2003-04) where he spent a professional internship in composition with 19 values, Conservatory of Music of Braga - Calouste Gulbenkian and at the Instituto Profissional de Artes Aplicadas do Porto (2009-12) . It has a work with an instrumental arrangement quite suitable for the development of the pedagogical issues in music, of which the Marília Rocha (Vila Conde) competition stands out in 2011, 2012, 2013 editions: “Moto perpétuo” (v. solo), “Tranglomanglo” (vln. and piano), “...the escaped...” (solo piano), “Canção de Embalar” (solo piano - Edições AVA) and for the Frederico de Freitas/University of Aveiro Interpretation Prize, “Training the good blue man” (solo clarinet). In the same sense, “04|40” (symphonic orchestra), commissioned by Esproarte/Teatro Municipal de Bragança, as well as several orchestrations, such as “Atrás dos tempo vêm tempos” and “Roupa Velha” by Fausto Bordalo Dias, for choir and orchestra de sopros (2013), commissioned by PareSeres da terra - Conservatory of music of Vale do Sousa - Lousada, or the most recent orchestration of the work “Festa Portuguesa” for guitar and orchestra, following the indication of the instrumental cast of the composer José Duarte Costa, or orchestrations of folklore themes from Vila do Conde with the aim of approaching popular roots and framing them as sounds in erudite musical theory. He was the guest composer of the “II Encontro de Música Contemporânea” in Vila do Conde (2005), directed the “Workshop on Digital Sound Treatment”, and “Workshop on Composition and Production of Bragança” at the Escola Superior de Educação de Bragança (2005 and 2008 / IMPLICARTE meetings, respectively). As a researcher he has presented communications at several meetings, congresses and conferences, from Bragança to Aveiro, passing through Vila Real, Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon. Is a collaborator with Mundis - Associação Cívica de Formação e Cultura as a member of the scientific and pedagogical committee of several scientific-pedagogical and artistic-cultural events. He has been a producer and music editor for the ballet performances of Academia Gimnoarte since 2015, having produced in the same area the contemporary ballet shows “Symphony of Psalms” (2018), “À mesa com Eça” and “Missa Crioula” in 2019, for the Poveira Dance Company “Nós da Dança”.
