Biography
Conductor, composer and clarinetist, Luís Carvalho is one of the most versatile Portuguese musicians of his generation. He has performed in recitals and concerts all over the world, often premiering his own works and others by leading Portuguese and foreign contemporary composers, several of whom have been expressly dedicated to him. He holds a PhD in Music from the University of Aveiro and has been awarded several prizes and distintions. He often conducts the most important national orchestras and is founder and artistic/music director of Camerata Nov'Arte. A recognized composer, his works have been performed all over Europe and South America by renowned soloists and ensembles. He features in nearly two dozen CD's, either as a clarinetist, conductor or composer. He teaches on the faculty of the University of Aveiro and is an integrated researcher at INET-md.
